Bacteriostatic and Anti-Collagenolytic Dental Materials

Description:

Through the incorporation of polyacrylic acid modified CUQ nanoparticles, the present technology provides an entire line of dental products including sealants, structural components, and a variety of RBCs that have antimicrobial properties built into the product, reducing the recurrent bacterial driven decay.

Overview: Restorative dentistry due to tooth decay continues to grow around the world. The use of resin based composites (RBCs) is preferred because of the aesthetic quality of RBCs in matching background tooth color. However, RBCs continue to have a high rate of long term decay to the underlying tooth structure because of imperfect sealing and microleakage, allowing bacteria to infiltrate the RBC and area between the RBC and the tooth. Replacement of failed dental restorations alone is a $5 billion per year market.

Advantages: The advantages are restorative dental procedures with less after procedure bacterial infection

Applications: All dental uses of resin based composites

Keywords: Dental, resin based composite, dental caries
