Description:
Coronary heart disease regeneration is hampered by scar tissue
formation after injury to the heart muscle. The present technology provides
compositions and methods for blocking stem cell differentiation into full
fibroblasts, limiting the amount of scar tissue formed. This allows stem cells present in the
patient or delivered ex vivo to be better utilized to repair damaged heart
tissue. The present technology
provides compositions and methods for blocking periostin, which was shown to
mediate the formation of scar tissue.
Advantages:
Enhanced cardiac regeneration by stem cells
Applications:
Therapeutic for cardiac regeneration, as well as other diseases
where scar formation is a problem

cardiac, stem cell, periostin, scar
formation
